Animals Under Attack

Corporate Greed Aims to Silence Voters

Newly released undercover footage exposes a cruel practice the meat industry is fighting to hold on to.

More Never-Before-Seen Footage Released

Cramming pigs inside crates barely larger than the animals themselves for nearly their entire lives is simply unacceptable, and the majority of Americans agree. In 2018, Californians overwhelmingly voted into law a ballot initiative that prohibited the in-state production or sale of pork from pigs confined in a cruel manner. But the meat industry aimed to silence these voters by challenging the law in federal court, and the dispute reached the Supreme Court of the United States.

Fortunately, the Supreme Court has affirmed the dismissal of claims against Prop 12.

This is a huge victory for animals, and it’s thanks to you! Please take a moment to celebrate this accomplishment

The next crucial step in strengthening protection for animals is to pass federal legislation that places the responsibility of beginning to solve various problems in the U.S. food system where it belongs—with the corporations and agribusinesses that have created them.

Please contact your members of Congress, and ask them to support the Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act.

‘‘It was like she realized she was trapped in a never-ending nightmare.’’

She had just given birth a few days before. Some of her babies were born dead, and the others were taken away. But her suffering wouldn’t end there. Yet again, she was crammed into a “gestation crate”—a metal cage barely larger than her body—unable to walk, lie down comfortably, or even turn around.

Sign of Serious Mental Collapse

Deprived of mental stimulation, she was driven mad by boredom and stress. She repeatedly bit the bars of her crate.

Mother pigs were also bloody, suffering open wounds caused by rubbing against the metal bars of their cruel crates.

Day-Old Piglet Mutilated

He suffered painful mutilations, such as castration and tail docking, without any anesthesia or pain relief. Then at just a few days old, he was taken from his mother and thrown into a truck.

Critical animal welfare protections are under attack. It is time for lasting federal protection for farmed animals.

This legislation addresses a wide range of inexcusably exploitative and cruel practices in our food system and the need for effective federal oversight.

I am disheartened to know that my tax dollars foot the bill for extreme animal cruelty and exploitation.

Thank you for considering my request.
